Pesta Sebuyau kicks off with flurry of activities

SEBUYAU: Pesta Sebuyau 2014 kicked off on Sunday with several activities for both old and young.

Among the activities were tug-of-war, jogathon, fashion show for children and ‘sukan rakyat’.

The activities started from morning and were organised by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Sebuyau branch.

The prize-giving ceremony was conducted by Sebuyau assemblyman Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

Julaihi commended
the effort to organise Pesta Sebuyau which will enhance cooperation and unity among the people.

“Because the event (Pesta Sebuyau) involves locals and will enhance unity and cooperation among the people, such event will be held every year,” said Julaihi, who is Assistant Minister of Industrial Development (Investment and Promotion).

Meanwhile, Pesta Sebuyau will be from May 23 to 25, with Sebuyau Regatta as its main event.

Other happenings in conjunction with the festival are the earthbreaking ceremony for the new Sebuyau mosque to be performed by Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem on May 24, who will also officiate at the regatta on the same day.
